ANTONINI Marc

Co-founder & CSO

Marc is a research director at CNRS. He leads the MediaCoding research team at the I3S laboratory (15 people). He has held numerous leadership positions in the signal theory community. He is at the origin of the European project "OligoArchive" on the issue of storing information on DNA. From October 2021, he is the program director of the PEPR Exploratory “MoleculArXiv” on massive data storage on DNA and artificial polymers. Marc Antonini has been the chair of the international JPEG DNA working group since 2020. He is the author of more than 300 articles, 7 book chapters and 13 patents (9365 citations, source Google Scholar January 2023). He is also co-founder and scientific advisor of Cintoo, a spin-off from the University of Côte d'Azur and the CNRS. He is a member of the IEEE and AFNOR. In 2023 he received a medal of Innovation from CNRS.

Melpomeni DIMOPOULOU

Co-Founder & CEO

Melpomeni Dimopoulou holds a PhD on DNA data storage.
During her PhD studies, Melpomeni authored 2 journal articles and 13 conference papers, earning multiple Best Paper Awards. She is also the co-author of a patent. In 2019, she won the regional Three-Minute Thesis competition and was awarded the Prize of Excellence from Université Côte d'Azur for her exceptional academic performance.
Since 2020, Melpomeni has been leading the creation of PEARCODE, a pioneering start-up at the forefront of DNA data storage innovation. In 2021, she won the prestigious i-PhD award, and in 2023, PEARCODE was recognized with the i-Lab Grand Prix, both from Bpifrance. In 2021, she was honored with one of the L’Oréal UNESCO "For Women in Science" prizes for her outstanding research contributions.
As the Founder and CEO of PEARCODE, Melpomeni is driven by her passion for transforming cutting-edge research into practical, real-world solutions. Her work is revolutionizing the way we think about data storage, pushing the boundaries of innovation with synthetic DNA technology.

Eva GIL SAN ANTONIO

CTO

Eva Gil San Antonio is the Chief Technical Officer of PEARCODE. She completed a PhD in the I3S laboratory in Sophia Antipolis, where she continued her work as a postdoctoral researcher. Her doctoral and postdoctoral research focuses on the storage of digital data using synthetic DNA. She holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain and followed the EIT program Digital Master School in Data Science with an option in innovation and entrepreneurship from the University Polytechnic of Madrid and the University of Côte d'Azur. Her research gave rise to several publications in national and international conferences. She received the prize for best student paper at the CORESA 2020 conference and won the EURASIP 3-minute thesis competition at EUSIPCO 2021. She also was a finalist for the Laffite Prize in 2021 and received the Excellence Prize from the Université Côte d'Azur the same year. Eva is also a JPEG DNA expert within the JPEG DNA standardisation group, which has led to various contributions on standardisation efforts for image and video storage in DNA.

Jérémy MATEOS

R&D Molecular Biology & Biochemistry

Jérémy Mateos is a multidisciplinary innovator, currently pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Marc Antonini, a CNRS research director at the I3S Lab in Sophia Antipolis. With a solid academic background that includes a Bachelor's in Life Sciences and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Côte d'Azur, Jérémy brings a unique blend of expertise in signal processing, molecular biology, and microfluidics to the table.
At PEARCODE, Jérémy’s cutting-edge doctoral research focuses on developing automated algorithmic and biochemical solutions for creating synthetic DNA memory with random access—a breakthrough in the field of biotechnology. He has also been actively involved in the FindCov Project (Rapid, Simple, Enzyme-Free Detection of SARS-CoV-2), led by Anthony Genot, CNRS research director at LIMMS in Tokyo.
Jérémy’s passion for innovation and his dynamic skill set make him a key player in the future of biotech solutions.
