  • Encoding: Your data is converted into DNA sequences.
  • DNA Synthesis: These sequences are physically synthesized into DNA.
  • Secure Encapsulation: The DNA is sealed in an Imagene capsule, thus protected from water, oxygen, and light.

ANTONINI Marc

Co-founder & CSO

Marc is a research director at CNRS. He leads the MediaCoding research team at the I3S laboratory (15 people). He has held numerous leadership positions in the signal theory community. He is at the origin of the European project "OligoArchive" on the issue of storing information on DNA. From October 2021, he is the program director of the PEPR Exploratory “MoleculArXiv” on massive data storage on DNA and artificial polymers. Marc Antonini has been the chair of the international JPEG DNA working group since 2020. He is the author of more than 300 articles, 7 book chapters and 13 patents (9365 citations, source Google Scholar January 2023). He is also co-founder and scientific advisor of Cintoo, a spin-off from the University of Côte d'Azur and the CNRS. He is a member of the IEEE and AFNOR. In 2023 he received a medal of Innovation from CNRS.

Melpomeni DIMOPOULOU

Melpomeni Dimopoulou holds a PhD on DNA data storage.
During her PhD studies, Melpomeni authored 2 journal articles and 13 conference papers, earning multiple Best Paper Awards. She is also the co-author of a patent. In 2019, she won the regional Three-Minute Thesis competition and was awarded the Prize of Excellence from Université Côte d'Azur for her exceptional academic performance.
Since 2020, Melpomeni has been leading the creation of PEARCODE, a pioneering start-up at the forefront of DNA data storage innovation. In 2021, she won the prestigious i-PhD award, and in 2023, PEARCODE was recognized with the i-Lab Grand Prix, both from Bpifrance. In 2021, she was honored with one of the L’Oréal UNESCO "For Women in Science" prizes for her outstanding research contributions.
As the Founder and CEO of PEARCODE, Melpomeni is driven by her passion for transforming cutting-edge research into practical, real-world solutions. Her work is revolutionizing the way we think about data storage, pushing the boundaries of innovation with synthetic DNA technology.

Eva GIL SAN ANTONIO

CTO

Eva Gil San Antonio is the Chief Technical Officer of PEARCODE. She completed a PhD in the I3S laboratory in Sophia Antipolis, where she continued her work as a postdoctoral researcher. Her doctoral and postdoctoral research focuses on the storage of digital data using synthetic DNA. She holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain and followed the EIT program Digital Master School in Data Science with an option in innovation and entrepreneurship from the University Polytechnic of Madrid and the University of Côte d'Azur. Her research gave rise to several publications in national and international conferences. She received the prize for best student paper at the CORESA 2020 conference and won the EURASIP 3-minute thesis competition at EUSIPCO 2021. She also was a finalist for the Laffitte Prize in 2021 and received the Excellence Prize from the Université Côte d'Azur the same year. Eva is also a JPEG DNA expert within the JPEG DNA standardisation group, which has led to various contributions on standardisation efforts for image and video storage in DNA.

Jérémy MATEOS

R&D Molecular Biology & Biochemistry

Jérémy Mateos is a multidisciplinary innovator, currently pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Marc Antonini, a CNRS research director at the I3S Lab in Sophia Antipolis. With a solid academic background that includes a Bachelor's in Life Sciences and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Côte d'Azur, Jérémy brings a unique blend of expertise in signal processing, molecular biology, and microfluidics to the table.
At PEARCODE, Jérémy’s cutting-edge doctoral research focuses on developing automated algorithmic and biochemical solutions for creating synthetic DNA memory with random access—a breakthrough in the field of biotechnology. He has also been actively involved in the FindCov Project (Rapid, Simple, Enzyme-Free Detection of SARS-CoV-2), led by Anthony Genot, CNRS research director at LIMMS in Tokyo.
Jérémy’s passion for innovation and his dynamic skill set make him a key player in the future of biotech solutions.

LUCAS Estelle

CTO

Estelle Lucas is the Chief Technology Officer at Pearcode.
She holds an engineering degree from INSA Toulouse in biochemistry and a PhD in Population Genetics. During her PhD at the Human Evolutionary Genetics Unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, she published four papers in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
After her academic career, she moved into the private sector to work at the intersection of biology and computing, where she gradually built strong experience in turning scientific problems into robust, real-world solutions.
Since 2014, she has been leading complex technical and scientific projects, covering product development, team structuring and delivery. She has strengthened her management and delivery skills through several international certifications, including PMP, PRINCE2 and Scrum.
Today, as CTO of Pearcode, she leads the company's technical strategy and product development, ensuring scalability, reliability and alignment between science, technology and business goals.

Melpomeni Dimopoulou détient un Doctorat dans le domaine du stockage de données sur ADN.
Durant sa thèse, Melpomeni a écrit 2 articles de revue et 13 articles de conférence, gagnant à de multiples reprises le Prix du Meilleur Article. Elle est aussi co-autrice d’un brevet. En 2019, elle a gagné le concours régional « Ma thèse en 180 secondes » et a reçu le Prix de l’Excellence de l’Université Côte d'Azur pour son excellente performance académique.
Depuis 2020, Melpomeni a travaillé à la création de PEARCODE, une start-up à la pointe de l’innovation dans le domaine du stockage de données sur de l’ADN. En 2021, elle a gagné le prestigieux prix i-PhD et en 2023, PEARCODE a acquis encore davantage de reconnaissance avec le Grand Prix i-Lab, récompenses de deux concours organisés en partenariat avec Bpifrance. En 2021, elle a reçu l’un des prix L’Oréal UNESCO « Pour les Femmes et la Science » pour ses remarquables contributions à la recherche.
En tant que fondatrice et CEO de PEARCODE, Melpomeni cherche avec passion des moyens de transformer la recherche de pointe en des solutions réalistes et concrètes.

Eva GIL SAN ANTONIO

CTO

Eva Gil San Antonio est la CTO de PEARCODE. Elle a réalisé sa thèse de Doctorat au laboratoire I3S à Sophia Antipolis, laboratoire dans lequel elle a poursuivi son travail en tant que postdoctorante. Ses recherches sont axées sur le stockage de données numériques. Elle détient un diplôme en génie biomédical de l’Université Polytechnique de Valence en Espagne et a suivi le programme de Maîtrise interdisciplinaire EIT Digital Master School en Sciences des données avec une option en innovation et entreprenariat de l’Université Polytechnique de Madrid et de l’Université Côte d’Azur. Ses recherches ont donné lieu à plusieurs publications dans des conférences nationales et internationales. Elle a reçu le prix du meilleur article étudiant à la Conférence CORESA 2020 et a gagné le concours EURASIP 3-minute thesis à la conférence EUSIPCO (European conference on signal processing) 2021. Elle a aussi été finaliste du Prix Laffitte en 2021 et a reçu le Prix d’Excellence de l’Université Côte d’Azur la même année. Eva est aussi une experte en ADN JPEG au sein du groupe de standardisation JPEG DNA, qui a apporté diverses contributions dans la standardisation du stockage d’images et de vidéos dans de l’ADN.

Jérémy MATEOS

Jérémy Mateos est un innovateur multidisciplinaire, effectuant actuellement sa thèse de Doctorat sous la supervision de Marc Antonini, directeur de recherche CNRS au laboratoire I3S à Sophia Antipolis. Avec une solide formation universitaire incluant une licence en sciences de la vie et un master en génie biomédical de l’Université Côte d'Azur, Jérémy apporte à PEARCODE une combinaison unique de savoir-faire en traitement du signal, biologie moléculaire et microfluidique.

LUCAS Estelle

CTO

Estelle Lucas est Chief Technology Officer (CTO) chez Pearcode.
Elle est diplômée en ingénierie biochimique de l'INSA Toulouse et titulaire d'un doctorat en génétique des populations. Lors de sa thèse à l'Unité de Génétique Évolutive humaine de l'Institut Pasteur à Paris, elle a publié quatre articles dans des revues scientifiques internationales à fort impact.
Après son parcours académique, elle a rejoint le secteur privé pour travailler à l'interface entre biologie et informatique, où elle a acquis une solide expérience dans la transformation de problèmes scientifiques complexes en solutions robustes et applicables dans le monde réel.
Depuis 2014, elle dirige des projets techniques et scientifiques, tout en structurant des équipes et guidant le développement de produits. Elle a renforcé ses compétences en management et en pilotage grâce à plusieurs certifications internationales, dont PMP, PRINCE2 et Scrum.
Aujourd'hui, en tant que CTO de Pearcode, elle pilote la stratégie technique et le développement produit de l'entreprise, en veillant à la scalabilité, la fiabilité et à l'alignement entre science, technologie et objectifs business.
